Job Opportunities at Yale College Dean’s Office

Updated March 24, 2010

Yale is currently hiring 2 Yale College Student Affairs Fellows for a 2-year appointment (starting July 2010). The job is ideal for someone who is 2 or 3 years out of college and would like some experience working with undergraduates (apartment housing on the Old Campus & and a meal plan are also provided). Alumni who have been Freshmen/Ethnic Counselors or have done any kind of counseling/training work with young populations would be excellent candidates.

Go to www.yale.edu/hronline and search for “student affairs fellow” to find the job posting and apply online.

Nov 20 Banquet – Thanks for Joining Us, and Congratulations to Jack Hasegawa!

Updated November 29, 2009

IMG_1190Thanks to all students and alumni who joined us on campus for our Alumni Reception and Banquet on November 20, 2009, and congratulations to Jack Hasegawa, recipient of AAAYA’s first annual “Friend of the Community” Award.

It was a busy day for AAAYA: the national board had its second annual meeting to discuss plans for fundraising, board structure, and building new local chapters (if you’re interested in serving on the board, contact us and let us know!). After the meeting, students and alumni met at the Asian American Cultural Center for a reception, followed by a banquet at Seoul Garden restaurant.

The evening’s highlight was the presentation of our first annual “Friend of the Community” award to Jack Hasegawa. Jack, a former general secretary of Dwight Hall, was the first director of Asian American affairs at Yale from 1981-1985.

Video and photos from the evening are below. Also, after the jump, you can read AAAYA President Kunduck Moon’s introduction for Jack Hasegawa.

Spring Break Externship Program – March 15-19, 2010 – Sign Up By Nov 13!

Updated October 26, 2009

March 15-19, 2010
Forms due November 13, 2009
Contact: aacc.alumni@gmail.com (Vina Pulido and Vivek Kembaiyan, AACC Alumni Outreach Coordinators)

The Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) at Yale is looking for alumni to sponsor students in a week-long unpaid externship in various cities, including NYC, LA, DC, Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco. In its fifth year, the program was established to give students a glimpse into life after Yale. Students shadow their sponsor at the work place and might be given a small independent project. Each sponsor usually sponsors one or two students. Students are responsible for their own housing and transportation. The AACC also hosts a community dinner for sponsors and student externs during the week. Thus far, feedback from sponsors and externs has been overwhelmingly positive. We hope you will become involved in this rewarding program!

Please read the sponsorship form for additional information and instructions on how to sign up.
