Both Here and There: Yale-China and a Century of Transformative Encounters

On View September 2- October 11, 2010

This exhibit explores the hundred-year history of the Yale-China Association and the personal narratives behind its long history of cross-cultural exchange. Both Here and There: Yale-China and a Century of Transformative Encounters includes personal accounts, images, and artifacts that together explore the profound power of grassroots exchange on communities, cultures, and individuals an ocean apart. Since 1901, the Yale-China Association has built U.S.-China relations through programs in education, health, public service, and the arts.

Both Here and There is organized by Yale-China Association, in conjunction with the centennial of the Yale-China Teaching Fellowship Program. www.yalechina.org

The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is the leading national museum dedicated to preserving and presenting the history and culture of people of Chinese descent in the United States.  From its Maya Lin-designed home on the border of Chinatown and SoHo in New York City, MOCA collects and displays historical and cultural artifacts, and organizes traveling exhibitions, classes, discussions, and events that explore all aspects of the Chinese American experience in the United States. www.mocanyc.org

 

The Asian American Association of Yale Alumni is a national organization serving the Asian and Asian American alumni of Yale University. Lake Shore Drive and Chestnut, Chicago, IL

(A couple blocks east of the John Hancock, Bus 157 drops you off nearby as well as any Michigan St. buses like 145, 146, 147, 148, 151, etc. – Water Tower Place stop; Red Line – Chicago stop)

COST:   No charge for current and incoming students and their families

$10 suggested donation for Yale Alumni

 

Please join members of the Association of Asian American Yale Alumni (AAAYA) for food, drinks and good conversation as well as a warm welcome to the Yale community to incoming students!
