About the Event
Dr. Wang will be speaking on her book, The Kitchen Shrink: A Psychiatrist’s Reflections on Healing in a Changing World, as well as pertinent topics on mental health in the Asian-American community.
Bio: Dr. Wang was born in Brazil, then spent her childhood in Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley, now known as “Little Taipei." A graduate of the Yale School of Medicine and the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, she earned her MA in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley. She has been the recipient of the Milton Rosenbaum Prize for psychiatric research, a Lannan Foundation writer’s residency, and a New Mexico-Arizona Book Award. Dr. Wang is the author of the chapter on Asian American Women for The Encyclopedia of Women’s Health, and the author of literary works for the Asian Pacific American Journal.
